Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Orala E-Reader is a local e-book reader. We do not collect, transmit, or share your personal data. All information used by the app stays on your device.

2. Data We Collect

We collect no personal data whatsoever. The app does not send any information to us or to any third party.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores the following information locally on your device only:

• Books – EPUB files you import from your device storage
• Reading progress – your current page position within each book
• Bookmarks, highlights, and notes – annotations you create while reading
• Reading preferences – font size, theme, and TTS settings

This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app, except where your device or backup service retains local copies under your own settings.

4. Permissions

Orala may request the following permissions so core reading and playback features can work on your device:

• Read storage / media files – to open EPUB files you select from your device
• Foreground service – to keep text-to-speech audio playing when the screen is off
• Post notifications – to show playback controls in the notification shade during text-to-speech playback
• Wake lock – to prevent the screen from dimming while reading, where applicable
• Internet – reserved for potential future features and not currently used for data transmission

5. Text-to-Speech

The Piper TTS voice model runs entirely on your device. No book content, text selections, generated audio, or voice data is sent to any external server.

6. Third-Party Services

Orala does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or remote crash reporting services. We do not track how you use the app, what you read, or how long you use it.

7. Children’s Privacy

The app does not collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we introduce features that affect privacy, we will update this policy and revise the “Last Updated” date shown above.
